Mobility Grant for Pegah Kalatehjari
DOME postdoctoral researcher Pegah Kalatehjari has been awarded a mobility fellowship from the University of Vienna. She will spend an eight-week stay (May to July) at Takafumi Nakano’s “Leech Lab” at Kyoto University to advance research on leech-microbe symbioses. Congratulations, Pegah!
Through the mobility fellowships, Pegah Kalatehjari (DOME | CEMESS) will be supported for a two-month stay (May to July) at the "Leech Lab" led by Associate Professor Takafumi Nakano, a renowned leech taxonomist at the University of Kyoto. The aim of her visit is to gain insight into the microbial symbioses of three japanese leeches: Hirudo nipponia, Placobdella okai, and Torix tagoi. Thorugh her stay DOME researchers seek to establish a formal collaboration between the groups at CeMESS and Kyoto University and gain important data for planning joint projects on the symbioses present in these organisms.
Under the Mobility Fellowships programme, the University of Vienna supports research stays at selected renowned universities, including its Strategic Partners. This measure is intended to expand and intensify existing contacts with colleagues at the respective host universities or to initiate new research activities.
