STEM Outreach with Nachbarinnen
In July, CeMESS had the pleasure of hosting another STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) outreach event. Organized by DOMEie Yusuf Iris, the event welcomed children from the social association Nachbarinnen.
The Nachbarinnen are a critically acclaimed organization that supports the integration of migrant women and their families into Austrian society. The children who participated came from the Lernhilfe branch of the organization and joined as part of their internal KinderKultur-Programm.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Scientists
Together with fellow DOMEies, Yusuf ran a variety of fun and educational experiments showcasing the importance of science and research. Activities included DNA extraction from saliva, growing yeast, observing respiration, and much more.
After the experiments, the children and their tutors enjoyed lunch together. At the end of the visit, the young participants proudly received certificates as Junior Microbiologists.
We truly enjoyed the visit — and so did the kids!
