Bettina Glasl is a new senior scientist at DOME

09.09.2024

We are thrilled to announce that Bettina Glasl has joined our team as a senior scientist.

During a joint PhD at James Cook University and the Australian Institute of Marine Science under the supervision of David Bourne and Nicole Webster, Bettina began to explore the contribution of microbes to coral reef health. In recent years as a Post-Doc at DOME she has become particularly fascinated by the symbiotic interactions between marine sponges and ammonia-oxidizing archaea. Bettina's research combines field- and aquarium-based experiments with meta'omics, chemical imaging, and microscopy to unravel adaptations of ammonia-oxidizing archaea to a symbiotic lifestyle and their contribution to sponge health.
Great to have you in the team Bettina!
