The BaMiKo project, short for "Fiber, Microbiology, and Cooking," combines cutting-edge microbiome research with culinary creativity. In collaboration with a Tyrolean school, scientists David Berry (DOME, CeMESS) and Annelieke Overbeeke developed and filmed high-fiber recipes to promote gut health, bridging science communication with everyday life.
"We eat fiber not just for ourselves, but also to nourish our microbiome," explains project leader David Berry. The cooking videos include a healthy Christmas menu, offering delicious recipes that celebrate the holiday season while supporting a healthy gut microbiome.
This initiative, supported by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), showcases how participatory science and creative media can make research accessible and engaging. Celebrate the season with a healthy twist—explore the videos and recipes online!
