Shaul Pollak appointed Assistant Professor

07.05.2024

DOME welcomes a new addition to its faculty as Shaul Pollak joins as Assistant Professor (Tenure Track). His research explores how environmental microbiome interactions mediate ecosystem functions – like carbon cycling of protecting plants from pathogens.

Shaul received his PhD in Evolutionary Systems Biology from Tel Aviv University and has previously worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Shaul joined DOME as group leader in January 2023. Last year, he received a grant from AVINA Stiftung to support his development of machine learning methods to link microbial genomics with specific ecological functions. Since then, Shaul has begun to grow his research group with the addition of two PhD students, Lior Shachar and Joana Valèrio.
